Shirley (Mom) was raised on Cadle Creek in Mayo, Md,. Mom was 86 years old. Along with 3 sisters and 1 brother. Mom was the oldest of 5 children. Graduated from Annaplois High School, Class of 1945. Mom worked for Johnson Lumber Yard in Annapolis and The Dept. of the Navy, Retired with 32 plus years and then worked for AAA Travel Co. Retired from there. My mother was so proud of her family and where she came from. Mother of 2 daughters. After Dad had passed away. Mom moved with her daughter; Ruth and grandson Michael in Shawsville, Va. Shirley (mom), 86, and a native of Mayo, Maryland, entered into eternal peace on Monday, September 8th, 2014 at 11:05 pm. She was at home with her daughter Ruth. Mom had a direct cremation. Mom didn't want anyone to see her after her passing. This is what mom set up for herself on August 18th,. Predeceased in death by her husband John in 2006 and her father Homer in 1979 and her mother Hazel in 1996 also her sister Louise in 2011.
She is Survived by both daughters, 7 grand-children, 15 great grandchildren.
Mom is missed by her daughters and grandchildren and other family members. Mom did not want her death in the newspaper, so there was none. Mom was Cremated and Interment was private on September 19th, 2014 at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. This was her last wish and has been done her way.

I have been so lucky and blessed that we had mom live with us for the last 8 years, I will always have many memories of mom and of places we went and things we did together. She loved to just get up and find some where to go and in July we went to St. Michael's and had a full day of fun, shopping, lunch and then a late dinner on the way back home. I'm so glad we did that trip, it was her last trip out.
