Son of Maynard Reace Barrett and Nora Ellen Parker. Never married. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy 14 May 1940 and his rank was Seaman Second Class. Killed In Action on the Battleship USS OKLAHOMA at Pearl Harbor. For many years his body was listed as Never Found, Missing in Action or Buried at Sea. It took two years to turn the USS OKLAHOMA up right. The 429 missing sailors and marines bodies were found. 39 bodies were identified and were sent back to their families. The rest of the 390 bodies are unknown. These 390 men, one being Wilbur Clayton Barrett are buried in The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Honolulu, Hawaii. Wilbur Clayton Barrett is listed on The Purple Heart Honor Roll. His family was Awarded his Purple Heart. Wilbur C. Clayton is also listed at the USS OKLAHOMA Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
