DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

John R. Blankenship died at his home in this city, Dec. 30, 1920, following an illness of several years, at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 22 days. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by the pastor Eld. C. F. Rose , of Springfield. John R. was born at Corsicana, November 8, 1862, and was a son of the late Lorenzo J. and Martha Blankenship, who came to this county in 1851 and located at Cassville where Mr. Blankenship built a carding mill and operated it for four years. In 1855 he moved to Corsicana and there went into the carding mill and flour mill business. John R. assisted his father in this business for many years and later operated a mill at Corsicana himself. Later he sold his mill and bought a farm east of Corsicana which he improved and put into a high state of cultivation and which was his home until his health failed. He then sold his farm and moved to Eldorado Springs where he hoped to regain his health but no permanent improvement was obtained from treatment there. Last spring he bought property in Cassville and moved here where he would be near his children. He had consulted specialists at St. Louis and Kansas City and his local physicians had done everything in their power for his relief. His family gave him every attention and had for months devoted much of there time to his comfort. He married in 1885 to Miss Mellie E. Stansburry of Newton county. To them six children were born, five of whom are living: Dr. E. L. Blankenship of this city; Herbert R. of Purdy; Ruis of Monett and Misses Velma And Vera who are still at home. Mr. Blankenship had been a member of the Christian church for a number of years and was a good citizen. In addition to his widow and children, he leaves two brothers, U. G. of Butler and J. E.; and one sister, Mrs. P. E. Horine of this city.-Cassville Republican.
