BRAUN, ALBERT BERNARD 85 - passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Sunrise of Jackson. Born August 22, 1925 in Egg Harbor City, he was the son of the late Albert and Clara Braun. Albert graduated from St. Nicholas School and Holy Spirit High School. He was a member of the "greatest generation", serving in the Navy during World War II, from 1943 -1946, stationed Okinawa. Albert worked for the US Postal Service in Egg Harbor City for 30 years as a mail carrier. He lived in Egg Harbor most of his life before retiring to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 1989. He was an active member in the VFW both in Egg Harbor and in South Carolina. He and his wife, Maggie, enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, and traveling. While in South Carolina, Al and Maggie volunteered much of their time to Community Service. In 2001, Al and Maggie were recipients of the Volunteer of the Year Award. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Magdalen Schairer and his sisters, Virginia Braun and Madeline Campbell. Surviving are his daughters, Kathleen (Harry) Hartman of Jackson, NJ; Linda Milioti of North East, MD; Rosemary (Sam) Cipoletti of San Jose, CA, Alison Seiler of Dorothy, NJ and Phyllis Braun of Sicklerville, NJ; grandchildren Dan and Mike Hartman, Jessica Bennett, Alisa and Amanda Craig and Lauren Cipoletti; and 27 nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Nicholas Church, 525 St. Louis Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ. Viewing and visitation will be at the church, prior to the service from 9am-10am.
