Mary Kay Anderson was born and raised in Berkeley, CA and passed away on April 16, 2012.

She attended Denison University in Ohio for 2 years; then graduated from UC Berkeley in 1943. She worked for 5 years in San Francisco and married Andy Anderson in 1946. The couple shared interests in classical music, theater and bridge and enjoyed travel in the U.S. to nearly all 50 states.

Andy's work with Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. took them to Baton Rouge, LA for 15 years, where daughters Connie and Shelley were born. Her activities included bridge, garden club, the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, choral singing and the Christian Science Church.

A transfer in 1963 by Kaiser happily brought the family back to California where they settled in Danville, in time for Mary Kay to help her aging mother, still living in Berkeley.

Mary Kay was a founding member of the Danville-Alamo branch of American Association of University Women, and was honored with a lifetime membership in 2010. She and Andy were members of the Danville Presbyterian Church and both sang in the church choir until Andy died in 1972. She remained in Danville, worked at Bullock's Department Store for 10 years and continued her love of travel with many trips to Europe and around the U.S. In 2010, she moved to Trilogy in Rio Vista to be near Connie and her husband Jim Ludwig.

She joined the Danville Congregational Church in 1986, served as Financial Secretary for 2 terms, and was an active member until she moved to Rio Vista. Mary Kay continued playing bridge until the Friday before her death.

Predeceased by sister Nancy Bartley. Survived by daughters Connie Ludwig of Rio Vista and Shelley Anderson of San Diego, son-in-law Jim Ludwig and Shelley's long-time partner Hal Hodgson, beloved grandsons Daniel and Alan and great-grandsons Jamison and Hudson of Benicia.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Danville Congregational Church, 989 San Ramon Valley Blvd., Danville, CA 94526.
