Robert Eugene Cranford Jr. Our dear, sweet "Father Bob" passed away on June 11th. Bob was born in Camp LeJuene, NC on Feb. 5, 1954. Bob was raised in a military family and traveled the world before settling in San Leandro. He attended John Muir Junior High where he met his best friend John Allen, and Pacific High School, where he met the love of his life, Robin. Bob went on to attend San Jose State. He joined the Alameda Police Department in 1977, from which he retired as a lieutenant after 30 years of service in January of 2006. Bob leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Robin, daughter Allison (Chuck), son John and brother-in-law Tom. Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert. His family was everything to him. Bob was a unique man who touched many people, and became known to many as "Father Bob" because of his gift of embracing people. He was funny, compassionate, loving, gentle, and giving. His legacy will live on in all those who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at the Neighborhood Church of Castro Valley. 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley.
