Son of Nicholas Phillips and Maria Margarete Reitenous, born in Loudon Co., VA. Peter Phillips was a farmer of Loudoun county, Va.. and there married Sarah E. Wilson abt 1796 of Loudoun County, Virginia. He moved to Athens county, Ohio, and lived on a farm there until he was quite advanced in years, when he came to Elkhart Co., Indiana and made his home with his son John until his death, which occurred at the age of eighty-one years.
He and Sarah reared a family of children, of whom Nancy Phillips Deshler 1797–1874, Wilson Phillips 1801–1860 , John Phillips 1802–1872, Samuel Phillips 1804–1882 and Margaret Phillips Watkins 1813–1884 are the only ones remembered.
His final resting place is in the Clinton Union Cemetery, Millersburg, Elkhart, Indiana.
