Mary Katherine Shelton Adams, age 74, of Chanute, Kansas, a loving and devoted wife and mother, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born August 15, 1939 in Lewisville, Texas to Leonard and Lena Dudley Shelton. Mary Katherine was a graduate of Denton High School. She married Jerry Adams on April 2, 1969 in Lake Dallas. Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, working on creative projects, reading, and was a tireless caregiver to her 6 dogs and 1 cat. Her outgoing personality ensured she never met a stranger. She will be remembered for her smile, laughter, hugs, kindness, generosity and complete devotion to her husband, her only daughter, and her entire family. Mary always put others first, and she firmly believed (and told you whether you wanted to hear it or not) to: "Stop and smell the roses!" Mary Katherine is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Adams; sister, Minnie Lee Drake and brothers, Joe Howard Shelton, Leonard David Shelton and James Harold Shelton.
