UPDATE NOVEMBER 2016:

The following information has been found in the UK Census regarding Rachel:

Rachel Banks
District: Leigh ... County: Lancashire ... Year: 1897 ...
Quarter: 4 ... Volume: 8c ... Page: 328 ...

Rachel Banks was the twelve year old daughter of James and Ann Banks (while her stone states 'her thirteenth year', UK census documents and death certificate information state age 12, and this may be an example of the then popular dating system of information among some); the family lived in the Greater Manchester area, but I have not been able to verify further details at this point. I will update this page accordingly, as Rachel's family and my own are related, and I expect to come across further information in the paperwork I have just received.

Rachel's death is assumed to be from consumption; I do note that two children of Thomas and Minnie Jones are included on this stone. I am assuming that the parent(s) of these two children (Olive and Linda Jones) were related to James or Ann in some way. Because we have the common name Jones throughout many different branches of our family history - literally dozens of threads -, I may have problems trying to verify who these children are, but I will continue to research the matter.

I have been unable to find siblings for Rachel, but as I just discovered with another Banks' relative - I had always heard that Edward Francis Banks was an only child, when in fact he was the only BOY of seven children -, this does not mean that they do not exist. Again, I am working on this file routinely, and hope to be able to add much more information to Rachel's page.
