I, J. Wathen, manager of this memorial, am the niece of Melanie. Her brother, Thomas Austin Wathen, was my father.
Melanie was only 8 months old when she passed away. She died of pneumonia. She was allergic to the sulfa drugs used at that time to treat pneumonia. She was buried near her parents house, on land that they owned. After my grandfather's (Melanie's father) death, the land was sold. An attempt to move Melanie's remains was made, but nothing was left. She is in God's Arms now...that is all that matters.
