Sam was much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He wore many different hats in his varied careers.
After attending Wichita North High school in Kansas, he enlisted in the U. S Marine Corps which led to his acceptance into the Naval Cadet Air Training Command.
After qualifying and serving ad a jet pilot he then went on to become an instructor in the Advanced Flight Training Command. Following his military service he spent 10 years as an Air Traffic Controller. His love of model railroading led to his partnership in a hobby shop that featured trains and a large variety of radio controlled cars and aircraft.
In high school, he was involved in football, swimming, and track, and was on the honor roll his junior year.
