Lydia Harrison, 85, of Leavenworth, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was born Jan. 24, 1927, in McLouth, Kan., the daughter of Archie and Goldie (Laster) Allen and attended Lansing Schools.


In November 1943, she married Neal Harrison. He survives her at the home. She is also survived by a son, Neal (Cathy) Harrison Jr. of Towanda, Kan.; a daughter, Janice Sifford of Leavenworth; three grandchildren, Neal (Karen) Harrison III, Todd Harrison, Rev. Amy (Todd) Seifert; four great-grandchildren, Emily Seifert, Joshua Seifert, Corrin Harrison, Sophie Harrison; a sister, Goldie Miesner of Leavenworth; and several nieces.

She was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, and homemaker who enjoyed crafts and needle work. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, where she remained active in the White Cross Ministry. She was honored as the American Baptist Women's Mother of the Year in 2010.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law David Sifford, sisters Velva King, Clara Bentley, and Frances Flynn.
