Wendel Service Set Tomorrow

Funeral service for Chris Martin Wendel, retired Leavenworth barber, will be a 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the family lot, Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
Mr. Wendel, 77, of 792 Osage died Monday at Cushing Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since May 30. He had been in failing health the past four years.
Mr. Wendel was born Nov. 5, 1883 at Essen, Germany, a son of William and Elizabeth Ehart Wendel. In 1884, he came with his parents to Leavenworth and in 1885, moved to the Milwood Community. He returned to Leavenworth in 1910.
A barber until his retirement in 1957, Mr. Wendel had held several offices in the barbers' union.
On June 30, 1914, at Leavenworth he was married to Miss Lena Werner. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Beside his widow he is survived by two daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Raymond of Wichita and Mrs. Helen Louise Endriss of 95 Olive; two sons, Martin Eugene Wendel of 1930 Ottawa and Frederick Charles Wendel of Lincoln, Neb; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Burk of 225 Pottawatomie, Mrs. Mary Felzke of RR 4, Mrs. Martha Frietchen of 722 Ottawa and Mrs. Ann Kreutzer of 712 Ottawa and nine grandchildren.
Chaplain Edwin E. Berner, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran Church pro-tem will officiate at the service. Friends may call at the Davis Funeral Chapel.Taken from the LV Times 6-13-1961
