Clifford E. "Cal" Conklin of Newburgh, a retired sergeant major for the U.S. Military Academy Band, West Point, and a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997 at St Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 79.
The son of the late Harold and Anna Grattan Conklin, he was born Oct. 26, 1918 in Walden.
He was a former drum major for the U.S. Military Academy Band: member of Masonic Lodge, Highland Falls; Scottish Rite Lodge, White Plains, and an Army veteran with more than 33 years of service. He was retied from the New York State Bridge Authority, Newburgh.
