Bertha E. Bohannon
Bertha E. Bohannon, 101, of Leavenworth, formerly of Bonner Springs, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at the Colonial Manor of Lansing.
She was born the daughter of Jacob and Anna E. (Zuehlke) Blanz on May 17, 1903, in Kansas City, Kan.
She married Robert E. Bohannon on Sept. 23, 1995, in Lansing. He passed away Feb. 18, 2002.
Bertha retired from Sunshine Biscuit Company and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Leavenworth. She had lived in Bonner Springs until moving to Leavenworth in 1995.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Helen Johnson, Lansing; four grandchildren, Mary Ann Oertel, Kansas City, Kan., Sister Eileen Marie Johnson, Anaconda, Mont., Linda Powers, Lansing, and Jimmy Johnson, Monroe, La.; six great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Fenton, Tonganoxie.
Her parents; husband, Robert; brothers, Roy Blanz and John Blanz; sisters, Louise Treas and Florence Saunders; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Doris Johnson; and two infant sons; all preceded her in death.
A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, 707 S. Sixth St., Leavenworth, KS 66048; 682-2820.
A service will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home followed with burial in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the church in care of the funeral home.
