Raymond John Jansma was born in Sibley, Iowa, on January 5, 1924. He was the fifth child of a family of nine. Raymond came to California in 1955 and worked on several dairy farms before beginning his career in the maintenance/landscape department of the Cypress School District. The family attended New Life Community Church for many years. After 20 years with the district, he retired and moved to Lynden, Washington, where he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, traveling and weekly card games with friends. In 2001 Raymond and his wife, Hermina, moved back to California and settled into Leisure World at Seal Beach. They are members of Park Church in Long Beach. Raymond enjoyed more traveling and time with family and those weekly card games with friends. For the last 2 years the staff at Country Villa has been able to take excellent care of him until his passing. Raymond is preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis and Alice, his parents and several of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Hermina of 65 years, 2 sons, Ray (Debbie) of Las Vegas, CA and Frank (Debby) of Indio, CA, three daughters, Teressa (Butch) of Everson, WA, Leona (John) of Chandler, MN and Karen (Mike) of Snohomish, WA. He also enjoyed his 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother, Dean (Emily) of Penn State, PA and 1 sister Dorothy (Curt) Meyerhoff of George, IA. Celebration of Life was held July 31, 2012, at Park Church in Long Beach with Internment was in the Artesia Cemetery. -Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary
