Thomas attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS in 1931-1932 as a Freshman. His classes began on September 10, 1931.

Thomas was married to Clara Louise Sing. He and Louise had two children:

Thomas Wayne Pounders; Tommy, Osceola, AR
John "Bubba" Pounders; also Poppy, Marion, AR

Thomas was a farmer, in Arkansas, and an overseer. In 1940, he was employed at the farm of G.R. Vardeman in Widener, St. Francis Co., Arkansas. He and Louise lived at South Route, Widener, St. Francis Co. Arkansas.

In 1940, at age 31, Thomas registered for service in WWII.

Thomas retired as a Department Manager for Home Oil Co. in Osceola, AR.

Thomas was a member of and served as a Deacon at the Calvary Baptist Church. (credit: The Osceola Times)

Thomas died of lymphoma.

Pallbearers were Ottis Raper, James Dean, Dewey Davidson, Ben Davis, Jack Crosthwait and Elmon McNabb.
Honorary pallbearers were Richard Rogasis, Don Whitney and R.E. Willingham.

Notes on Thomas' family:
One of Thomas' parents had the initials/name of "D.F. Pounders". I assume this is David Franklin Pounders, buried at Eudora Baptist Cemetery, Eudora, Desoto Co., MS., with headstone of David F. and Cora W. Pounders.
David F. #27875887 and Cora W. #27875888.
Joseph L. Pounders, #27875885, possible brother of David.

Brothers of Thomas Nathaniel Pounders:
Emerson Pounders #27875901
Emerson married Freddie Pounders #27875902Jones Pounders
Robert Pounders

Possibly his father:
Richard Thomas Pounders, Sr., born 05/02/1899 died 11/04/1978
Richard married Lena/Lana Pounders

It is possible that "EMERSON" was the maiden name of Thomas and Emerson's mother.

On Find A Grave, in the Eudora "Hernando Memorial Park", there is a Hattie Whitley Emerson, wife of Dr. Angus L. Emerson; and there is an Inez Carolyn Emerson; and there is a Rosalie M. Emerson, wife of Weisinger O. Emerson.

There were many in the Pounders family from the Red Bay, Alabama area. See Ridge Cemetery, Itawamba Co., MS. The Sing family was also prominent in Red Bay, AL.

Many Pounders purchased Alabama and Mississippi land in the 1800s.
William Pounders
James Pounders
Marion F Pounders
