Matt Schaldach, 47, of Austin left this world on Friday, March 14, 2014. However, through his gift of organ donation, he has already helped others continue their journey through life.

Matt was born in Harbor City, California on September 14, 1966 to Richard and Jane Schaldach. His childhood was spent skateboarding empty swimming pools in LA, spending tons of time at the beach, and coming up with new hairstyles to shock his adoring parents. Matt's undying love of music, technology, and all-around nerdery brought him to Austin in the summer of 2011. Here he found his soul mate, best friend, and forever dance partner, Danielle, sharing a beautiful life together with her son, Jayce, until his passing.

Matt lived a wonderful life that included travel, friends, happiness, true love, and lots and lots of 80s dance parties. He had an awesome career at Apple that he adored and got to spend his workdays surrounded by close friends and his fiancée; what more could you ask for?

If Matt could tell us anything as we deal with his passing, he would most likely tell us to stop being sad, go enjoy life, and associate death with some really involved Star Trek reference. However, we will still miss his silly antics, huge heart, and bright blue eyes that sparkled like diamonds from across the room.

Matt will be missed by many including his father, Richard Schaldach of Sacramento, CA; Mike, Kris, and Christopher Ost, Matt's brother-in-law, sister, and nephew of Lodi, CA; his Aunt, Susie Stuart of Byron, CA; Danielle Lane and Jayce Lozano, his fiancée and little twin of Austin, TX.

In lieu of a funeral service, Matt's fiancée will be hosting the wedding reception of their dreams as a celebration of his life–a 70s/80s themed roller-disco to be held on March 26, from 6-10pm at Playland Skate Center.

Lastly, to aid in research for severe Asthma, please consider making a donation on Matt's behalf to the American Lung Association . Hopefully with research, we can help stop this disease from taking wonderful people away from us.

"I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance"
