Dorothy (June) Angell, 82, of Salem, went to her heavenly home to join her beloved husband, John T. Angell, on Monday, March 4, 2013. She was born in Cave Springs, a daughter to the late Leonard and Samantha Pearline Vess. Dorothy was a life long resident of this area. Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur, Carl, Elmer, Pauline, and Elizabeth.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was loved by all who knew her. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in her earlier time, and she worked some outside the home, but she loved the full time position of being a homemaker and caregiver to her family.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Barry Wayne Angell and his wife, Sherry and Ronny Taylor Angell and his wife, Pattee; five grandchildren, Ronny Taylor Angell, John P. Angell, Jennifer Lynn Angell, Eric S. Angell, Barri Laura Shifflett; six great-grandchildren, Kenny, Allyssa, Alexander, Shawn, Mathieu, and Taylor; an expected great-great-grandchild, Skylyn Brooke Gilmore, several stepgrandchildren, including Kristin and James Gray; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service to honor the life of Dorothy (June) Angell will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 7, 2013, in the funeral home's chapel.
