Noted Baltimore radio and television personality. Buddy Deane was a top DJ on Baltimore's WITH radio from 1955 to 1964. He also hosted "The Buddy Deane Show" on WJZ-TV in Baltimore. It was a local version of "American Bandstand." Deane was rated the number one radio DJ in America in 1962. He left Baltimore in 1964 and returned to his home state of Arkansas where he owned a radio station. He also continued his morning DJ run on his own station until retiring in the 1980's. Baltimore native, John Waters, used "The Buddy Deane Show" for his 1988 film "Hairspray" which centered around the fictionalized "Corky Collins Show". In the film, Buddy Deane had a cameo role as a news reporter in front of the governor's mansion in the film.
