ROBERT PAUL ACREE

Robert Paul Acree passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 20, 2010 in Houston, TX at the age of 82.
He was born in Donna, TX on March 2, 1928. Bob was the youngest of nine children of Otho Thomas Acree and Sylvia Mae Powell. His home church was the First Presbyterian Church of Mercedes. Bob was proud to be in the Marine Corps for the United States of America. He was well known for his brickwork and stone masonry. In his later years Bob was a volunteer fireman and an active member of the Davis Mt. Community Church.
He is survived by three daughters and one son: Cathy Behrens and husband Howard of Houston, TX; Robert L. Acree and wife Diane of Somerville, TX; Paula Behrens of Chappell Hill, TX; and Sylvia Thomas and husband Steve of Carlsbad, CA; as well as, one sister Billie Ruth Parker of Alice, TX and sister-in-law Nell Baylor of the Woodlands, TX; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends.
Visitation will be at McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco, Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10 am at First Presbyterian Church in Mercedes. Pastor Esther Hughes will officiate and Pastor Dick Svertz will assist.
The Internment will follow at Ebony Grove Cemetery in Mercedes. Serving pallbearers will be Clay Schwarz, Dan Schwarz, Howard Behrens, III, Cliff Manning, Bruce Behrens, Jr., Nicholas Behrens and Ernest Behrens.
Those friends wishing to may make memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Mercedes, 601 S. Texas St, Mercedes, TX 78570-3525 and/or the Davis Mt. Community Church, 500 Tomahawk Trail, Ft. Davis, TX 79734.
