Mrs. Anna Geisdorff Andrews, also known as Anna Tremain Geisdorff, a resident of Sonora for her last two years, passed away in her sleep at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Charlotte Kibby, in Sonora early Friday morning. She was 47 and had been in ill health for several years.

Born in Montana on November 30, 1905, her heritage was American Indian, and she was of the Crow tribe.

Mrs. Andrews was survived by two daughters, Mary Chapman and Marilynne Andrews, of Norwalk in Southern California; a son, Fred Andrews, of Glendale; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Moraga of Arizona and Mrs. Edna Carpenter of Alaska, a brother, Robert Geisdorff of Tuolumne City, and an aunt, Mrs. Kibby of Sonora.

On January 31, 1923, Anna married Leon Fichera in Santa Ana, California.

Anna's father's name was Frederick Christian Geisdorff, and her mother's maiden name was Mary Adelia Bebee.

Anna's paternal grandfather, Francis (Frank) Geisdorff, was born in Parchin Or, Parchim, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany and passed away in 1890 in Bozeman, Montana. Her paternal grandmother was born in Montana in 1858 and also passed away in 1890 in Bozeman, Montana. Anna's father was born in Montana October 13, 1871. He passed away November 5, 1948, and is buried in this cemetery.

The Geisdorff family lived at Red Lodge Creek, Carbon County, Montana, and there is now the Crow Indian Reservation with the Little Bighorn River running through it.

Anna's paternal grandmother was a member of the Crow Indian tribe. Her father's name was White Forehead, and her mother's name was One Child Woman.

Anna's aunts on her father's side were Louisa and Charlotte who were also born in Montana.

Anna's aunt, Charlotte, was born in Bozeman February 18, 1878, and her married name was Barrett and later it was Kibby. She attended Indian Industrial School at Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She taught school, retired and moved to Tuolumne County in the late 1930s. She passed away August 21, 1960 in Tuolumne County after a long illness.

Anna's aunt, Louisa, was born in 1879, and married James McKillop Burnett. Louisa passed away in September 19, 1909 in Carbon, Montana.

Anna's maternal grandfather was born in New York, and her maternal grandmother was born in Missouri.

Anna's mother was born in Missouri in June 1870.

Anna's parents married in 1895, and they had four children during the next five years. Their first child was Florence, followed by Francis, then Frederick on February 23, 1898, and Mattie N., a daughter who was born in November 1999. A daughter, Hazel, was born April 14, 1903, and then Anna was born on November 30, 1904.

Florence, Frances and Frederick attended the Sherman Institute in Riverside, California, on Magnolia Avenue. The school is now an Indian museum.

Mattie attended the Haskell Institute, Lawrence, Kansas, which is still in operation, and later attended the Sherman Institute.

Florence's married name was Morago, and she had a daughter named Edith on November 20, 1923. Florence was born October 26, 1896 and passed away in Sacaton, Pinal County, Arizona in April 1985. She and her husband made their home in the vicinity of the Gila River in Arizona.

Francis joined his father and sister, Margaret, in their move to Rowland, Los Angeles County, California, where they ran a farm.

Anna's brother, Fred, was 71 inches tall and weighed 155 pounds when he enlisted in the military on October 10, 1942. He passed away December 24, 1948, in Santa Clara County, California.

Anna's sister, Hazel Geisdorff Jones (Margaret), married young, had a son, Carl Jones, on February 5, 1920. Eventually she divorced. She passed away February 21, 1950 in San Francisco.

Robert Clyde Geisdorff, Anna's half brother, was born November 29, 1927 in Los Angeles County. He enlisted in the military April 25, 1945. His civil occupation was geographer.

Robert Geisdorff's mother's maiden name was Thankful A. Day, and she was of the local natives, the Miwok Indian Tribe. She was born June 1897 in Tuolumne County, California.

Anna's daughter, Mary G. Brence, was born June 10, 1920. When Mary was two and a half years old, Anna married Leon Fichera. The marriage didn't last, and she later married Gordon Andrews who raised Mary. Mary married a Mr. Chapman, and she passed away in Los Angeles County on October 22, 1962.

Anna's daughter, Marilynne, was born in Los Angeles County May 29, 1935. She married William E Oram in Los Angeles County, September 11, 1955.

Anna passed away in Tuolumne County September 4, 1953 after a very long illness.
