Roman Catholic Bishop and member of the family that established the Boylan Bottleworks located in Rhode Island

Bishop Boylan was appointed the 3rd Bishop of Rockford after the appointment of 2nd Bishop of Rockford, future Archbishop Edward F. Hoban, as auxiliary (and later) Bishop of Cleveland. Bishop Boylan died visiting his family while on a trip to Rhode Island.

Boylan Central Catholic High School in northwest Rockford, Illinois, was named in his memory.
