A. Douglas Anderson 84, Lincoln, died Thursday, January 24, 2008. Born March 13, 1923 in Erie, PA. Graduated in 1947 from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA where he met and married Jane Travis, his wife of 52 years.
Memorial service: Saturday, February 2, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Southern Heights Presbyterian Church, Private interment at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Doug served in the 8th Air Force in World War II and retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Major. Most of his business career was spent in group insurance sales. He retired from Woodman Accident and Life in 1985.
Doug devoted much of his life to volunteerism, giving his time and talent to benefit others. He was involved with the Cornhusker Boy Scout Council for 30 years, receiving the Silver Beaver award for exceptional voluntary service. He was an advisor for Junior Achievement, volunteered for the Lincoln Literacy Council, and was recently inducted into the Mentor Hall of Fame after serving seven years as a Teammate Mentor. Doug was an adult leader for 28 years in Job's Daughters, and served as Associate Grand Guardian for the state of Nebraska. He ushered for Devaney Sports Center from the time it opened in 1976 until this fall (section C-3). For 15 years he volunteered with several LPS kindergarten classes where he was affectionately know as "Grandpa Doug".
He served on the Board of Directors for the Arc of Nebraska where he received the Martin Stovall Citizen of the Year award in 2005, and was a board member for the Lincoln Municipal Band. Doug was on several Presbytery boards, and served as a ruling elder of Southern Heights Church. He was a mason for over 60 years and was a Past Master of College View Lodge #320. He was a member of Scottish rite and Sesostris Shrine, where he was Past Commander of the Legion of Honor and a member of the Chanters.
