It is among these plus many other reasons that Latter-day Saints believe Grandin was called of God to perform this work. Palmyra never grew to Grandin's expectation and he soon went out of business. He died of pnumonia at the age of thirty-nine, shortly after the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith.
