Chauncy was a Ballston Spa police officer and later worked at General Electric Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member and vice president of IUE Local 301. Chauncy served as a village trustee and was a member of the Ballston Spa Elks, VFW Post 358, and American Legion Post 234. Chauncy was a member of the Eagle Matt Lee Fire Co. No. 1, where he served on the Fire Police and was past Captain.
He enjoyed cooking and driving around in his car. When you heard his familiar whistling you knew Chauncy was on his way. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren's friends considered Chauncy their surrogate Grandpa.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Aufiero; his brother, John Aufiero, and sisters, Nina Connelly , Annette Parente, Ann Mullen, Edith Aufiero and Hilda Ryan.
Chauncy is survived by his children, Judy Paine (William) of Saratoga Springs and Michael Aufiero (Lana) of Ballston Spa; grandchildren, Stacey, Christopher, Michael, Mark, Chendell and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Jamison and Alexa; sister, Marian O'Brien of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B H Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Town of Saratoga.
