Senior Chief Petty Officer Robert Arnold Hopkins, U.S. Navy (Retired), 67, of Moncks Corner, SC, died Tuesday, July 03, 2007. HTCS Hopkins was born April 22, 1940 in New York City, New York, son of the late Carl Edwin and Mabel Atkins Hopkins. Robert retired from the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Hull Technician after 23 years of honorable and faithful service to his country. He was awarded his Associate degree in Occupational Education from Trident Technical College and belonged to the National Education Association. He was board member and past President of the Charleston Scottish Society. He coached Dixie League in South Carolina and Babe Ruth Leagues while living in Rhode Island. Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife of 45 years, Euphemia Melville Adams Anderson Hopkins of Moncks Corner, SC; his son Robert Arnold Hopkins, Jr, and his wife, Lana of Evans, GA; his daughter, Sarmite Beth Schaefer and her husband, Steve of Fairfax, VA; his son, Glenn Allen Hopkins and his wife, Martha of Franklin, VA; his daughter, Laura Kirsten Slavik and her husband, Michael of Buford, GA; and his daughter, Jean Marie Brooks and her husband, David of Summerville, SC. Mr. Hopkins is also survived by his brother Fred Edwin Hopkins of Glendale, Arizona, and two brother-in-laws, William John Anderson of Durhamville, NY, and Alexander Allen Morrison Anderson of Chambersburg, PA. Also surviving is Mr. Hopkins' cousin, Fred Ransom of Hanover, MA. Mr. Hopkins was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Craig, and Thomas Schaefer, Ehrin, Hilary, and Mikaela Hopkins, Zackary and Matthew Hopkins, Kenneth, James, and Sarah Slavik, Elizabeth and Brittany Brooks.
