M.C. was born to Melford C. Cannada Sr. and Edna Coplin on November 14, 1928. He was always known as M.C., never using the name Melford.

He married Nancy Short on June 2, 1951.

THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, June 30, 1999, page 4B: 'M. C. Cannada Jr., 70, Rt. 5, Paris, died at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 1, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glynn Vickers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cannada was born Nov. 14, 1928, in the Howland community of Lamar County to M. C. Cannada Sr. and Edna Coplin Cannada.
He was a graduate of Roxton schools and was a well-known farmer and rancher.
He received the national FFA American Farmer Degree in 1948 and was named Paris News' Farmer of the Year in 1952. While participating in the American Agriculture Movement he drove his tractor to Washington, D.C. and was on the bridge in McAllen, Texas, March 1, 1978. M. C. was a former 4-H leader and was a member and past president of the Lamar County Junior Livestock Association.

He had served on the Noble Gin Board, was an active member of the Red River Valley Antique Tractor Club, and served on the board of the Lamar County Farm Bureau.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

A great source of joy and pride to M.C. was his restored 1941 H-Farmall tractor.

He married Nancy Short June 2, 1951, in Paris.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Monty Craig Cannada of Howland;
three daughters, Terri Cannada Darnell and husband Jimmy of Amherst, Sherry Cannada Bailey and husband Jerry of Caviness, and Tammy Cannada Moss and husband David of Howland;
six grandchildren, Amanda Darnell, J.C. Darnell, April Bailey, Casey Moss, Sloan Ty Moss, and Matthew Cade Cannada; and a sister, Billie Ruth McDougal and husband Bob of Paris; and six nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Baer, James 'Chubby' Rice, Marc Hall, Brady Porter, Bud Keenum, Joe Denton Mashburn, Mike Newberry, William 'Bubba' Justiss, Clint Campbell, Larry Joe Bramlett, Mike Hall, and Pat Coplin.
Honorary bearers will be members of the Loyalty Class of Calvary United Methodist Church.

The family requests memorials be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.'
