ONCE A MARINE......ALWAYS A MARINE !

HE WAS MY BEST FRIEND FOR 53 YEARS !

Cees BOS was born April 19th.-1932 in The HAGUE-HOLLAND.

In the Year 1952 Cees joined for His Duty the Royal Dutch Marine Corps and the Marines Bootcamp "Kamp Woestduin" in DOORN-HOLLAND was the place for the Basic Training.

I, Henk ORIE,joined the Marines in the same time, and the First time We met,was on a Railway Platform in The HAGUE,on a Sunday Evening where Cees had to take the Train to go back to the Bootcamp after a Weekend at His Parents Home.

This was the start of a very long Friendship !

September 1952 We both have been send to the Royal Dutch Navy School for Wireless Communications in AMSTERDAM.

After We finished the School with a good result as "Wireless Operator",Cees was Stationed at the Headquarters of the Royal Dutch Marines in Harbourtown ROTTERDAM and I went back to the Bootcamp in DOORN to work there untill the end of the year 1954 when We both went back to Civil Life.

Cees started to work as Operator at the Telephone Desk of a wellknown Taxi Company called "RED TAX" in the HAGUE.

He married an nice Girl called Hanny, they raised 2 Boys,Wim,who had the Down Syndrom, and Marcel. Later He divorced Hanny.I don't remember in which year.

Both, Cees and I loved to make Music,He as Piano and Accordeonplayer and I played Guitare and Bass Guitar and was a Singer, our Amateur Orchestre was called "de LATINI'S" because Italian Music was very popular in those years.

About one Year we worked on Saturday and Sunday Evenings with our Orchestre in a wellknown Café-Restaurant-Dancing "Hof van Holland" in the HAGUE when a Impresario heard us playing and asked us to sign a Contract to work as Professionals Musicians in a Nightclub in ESSEN-GERMANY called "PIGALLE".

Our Orchestre counted 5 Men and a Lady Crooner called "Nanna Sandra".

After 4 years work in Germany, every Month in another Town, the Orchestre finished.

Cees went then on a Cruise Ship to work as Entertainer for some Years. He met an English Girl during one of the Cruises an married Her.They raised 2 Girls,Michelle and Wendy. After He divorced Her,his Ex-Wife and Daughters went back to England to live there.

Later, when Cees lived in a Village called KNEGSEL,in the Southern Part of HOLLAND,near the BELGIUM BORDER He worked as Piano Player on Wedding Dinners-Receptions and Exhibitions etc.

During all those Years we regular visited each other and We took part at the Reunions of the Society of Old Marines.

Cees died October 30th.-2004,He was found dead in His Bathroom (Lung Cancer).

Rust in Vrede beste Vriend,je bent NIET vergeten !
