Pedro "Poka" Alvarez was born on April 19, 1947 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Petra (Patlan) Alvarez and Crecencio Alvarez. He married Maria Benavides of Dilley. He is survived by his wife of 43 years; five daughters, Sylvia Garza and husband, Oscar, of Colorado, Norma Rodriguez and husband, Rodrigo, of Dilley, Nora Alvarez and husband, Rene, of Dilley, Maria Martinez and husband, Manuel, of Uvalde and Petra Alvarez Marquez of San Antonio; four sons, Guadalupe Morales, Pedro Alvarez Jr. and wife, Elena, Moses Alvarez and wife, Rebecca, and Joe "Chato" Morales and wife, Frances Prado, all of Uvalde; two sisters, Ingracia Sontoya and Maria Juanita De Leon, both of Carrizo Springs; one brother, Max Alvarez of Uvalde; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Mike Alvarez, Manuel Alvarez, Crecencio Alvarez Jr. and Arcadio Negrete; and one sister, Francisca Orosco.
