Thomas Chaney Anderson, of Pasadena, Texas passed from this life into the presence of God on September 30, 2011. He was surrounded by his loving wife, JoJean, son Jeff and close Christian family. Chaney was born December 25, 1937 in Dallas, Texas and raised there by parents, C.C. and Vera Anderson. Chaney had the heart of Christ and selflessly dedicated his life to serving God and loving others in every aspect of his life. He especially loved his family. Chaney is survived by his wife JoJean, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of love and friendship. He is also survived by his son Jeff, around whom his world revolved. Chaney was preceded in death by his second born and much-loved son Jay and his parents C.C. and Vera Anderson. In his early years, Chaney worked as a professor for the University of Houston Downtown teaching mathematics. Chaney had a passion for teaching that he carried through life. Chaney's career took him through several levels of administration with the university. In 2005, Chaney retired from the University of Houston-Downtown as Vice President/CFO after over 30 years of service. Chaney was dearly loved by all who knew him at the university. Chaney's passion for teaching was not to be outdone by his love for the church. Chaney served in the church his entire life and as an elder for nearly 25 years. He truly loved the church. He shepherded and ministered to every person who touched his life, even through his very last days. The church has lost a mighty man of God, but truly learned through Chaney what it means to be a peacemaker and to put others above yourself. Chaney was an avid bowler and bowled weekly in the Rebels League in Pasadena. He was particularly proud of his "300" game and of his "299" trophy.
