James William Akers, well known Young County rancher of the Medlan Chapel community moved to Graham with his parents in 1901.

James William Akers married Miss Alma McCluskey on 26 June 1919 at South Bend, Texas.

James William Akers worked in the oil fields in his youth and later worked in ranching. He was a member of the Salem Methodist Church in Graham.

Survived by his wife; two sons - James L. Akers and Billy Fred Akers; one daughter - Mrs. Walter Byerly; one brother - Raymond Akers; five sisters - Mrs. Hester Price, Mrs. Kit Danley, Mrs. Bessie Avery, Mrs. ARtie Fleemore; seven grandchildren.
