Born in Los Angeles, California, Bill or some times called "Red" served in the United States Navy during World War II from September 7 1942 until February 3 1946 achieving the rank of Chief Boatswain's Mate aboard the U.S.S. ATE (AT-76) and later Coxwain aboard the U.S.S. Hennepin (AK-187). After leaving the service in 1946 he attended collage where he met and later married Rosemary Owens Hustis and had four children, Roseanne, William III "Bill," James "Jim" and Kurt. He spent his final years living in Eagle Rock (Suburb of Los Angeles, CA) working on inventions. His favorite pass time was just hanging out with his best friend Duke Hustis who followed him everywhere and did most everything together. After dad passed away Duke continued to hold up his position next to our dads easy chair until he passed away in 1993. He had two younger brothers Patrick "Pat" Hustis and Wayne Hustis. Parents were Evelyn Hustis and William "Hap" Hustis
