Nell was the oldest child of Young Davis and Annie Susan Smith Davis. On July 25, 1915 she married Berry George Capton in Athens, Clarke County, Ga. There was one child from this union, Lee David, she also had a daughter, Elizabeth, from a previous marriage.
Nell, like her father, Young Davis, and her brother, Harry, had a beautiful singing voice. I remember when I was a child and she would come to visit us she would try so hard to teach me to run scales with her first thing in the morning, and we always had a good laugh, because I more or less sounded like a frog croaking.
