Former Auxiliary for the Metropolitan See of Palermo and Bishop of the Titular See of Germa in Galatia, Monsignor Filippo Aglialoro was born in Ventimiglia di Sicilia, Province of Palermo, Sicily, on December 2, 1900, and entered the Archdiocesan Seminary of Palermo at an early age. Immediately distinguishing himself for his knowledge, finishing all his studies by the age of 21, he had to wait for a Pontifical dispensation to be ordained to priesthood. His ordination took place on April 14, 1923, when still 22 years of age, officiated by Cardinal Alessandro Lualdi who assigned him to his native parish.

After seven years of ministry in 1930, Cardinal Luigi Lavitrano named him Archpriest of Vicari and a decade later, in 1940, assigned him to Lercara Friddi. A renowned orator and beloved pastor, Cardinal Ernesto Ruffini appointed him vice-rector and later rector of the Archdiocesan Seminary of Palermo.

Successively Aglialoro was named vicar general of the Archdiocese of Palermo and elected Auxiliary of the named See at 56 years of age by Pope Pius XII, he received his episcopal consecration with the Titular See of Germa in Galatia from the named Cardinal Ruffini assisted by Archbishops Francesco Carpino and Gioacchino Di Leo at the Cathedral of Palermo on November 30, 1957.

Upon the death of Cardinal Ruffini, Aglialoro was appointed vicar capitular and economist of the sede vacante of Palermo by the metropolitan chapter, holding the post until the appointment of Monsignor Carpino to the archbishopric.

During the episcopate of Cardinal Salvatore Pappalardo, Bishop Filippo was named episcopal vicar with special assignments. Retiring from office at 76 years of age on February 9, 1977, the Bishop passed peacefully away in Palermo on February 4, 1988, aged 87.

On Sunday, April 30, 2017, his remains, exhumed from their original burial location at the Palermitan cemetery of Sant'Orsola, in the tomb of the Società Sacerdotale di San Pietro inside the Resurrection chapel, were transferred to the Chiesa Madre di Ventimiglia di Sicilia and re-interred in the chapel of the Holy Crucifix.
