Harold Ray Adams, age 80, of San Antonio, TX passed into the loving arms of the Lord on October 5, 2014 following a brief illness.

He was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on October 2, 1934 to Robert S. and Elmer M. Adams.

In 1961 he married his cherished wife of 53 years, Almeta.

An avid huntsman and fisherman, Ray joined the USAF in 1952 and served over 20 years as a security policeman and a refrigeration mechanic in the US and overseas.

He retired in San Antonio with his family and began a second career in the field of air conditioning/refrigeration maintenance and repair which he continued until shortly before his death.

Ray was also a charter member of Village Parkway Baptist Church, and served tirelessly on the Building and Grounds Committee to meet congregants' needs. He was the kind of man who was always ready to join in when there was work to be done.

Generous with his time, energy, strength and experience, he was an active member of the Meadow Village Neighborhood Association and served as a volunteer in its rummage sale. He also was an avid gardener and for many years he had a garden in his backyard. He spent many hours trapping the squirrels in his yard and transferring them to the park at Lackland Air Force Base.

He was a great story-teller, even though it sometimes took a long time to get through the entire story. He also was a skilled craftsman and one of his biggest projects was designing and building a deck in his backyard.

His love for the Lord was well-known and he counted among his dearest friends the men in his Sunday School Class. Ray was a man whose life touched countless others in many ways, and he will be greatly missed as well as richly remembered.

We take comfort in knowing that he left this world looking towards heaven with a smile on his lips as the angels took him home. All those that knew and loved him will never forget him.

He will always be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elmer Adams; brothers Brock L. Adams, Jimmie S. Adams, Johnnie W. Adams and Reggie G. Adams and niece Diane Haik.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Almeta Adams; daughters Detra (Roy) Sanchez and Delynn (Wilson "Tito") Trabal; grandchildren Ashley Briseño, Matthew Sanchez, Nathan Sanchez, Trenton Sanchez, Jacob Holifield and Madelynn Trabal; great-grandchildren Kaleb Myers and Leobardo Briseño; as well as brother Joe L. Adams and sisters Bobbie G. Navo, Ethel M. Haik and Joan W. Campbell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 8th from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions of the Village Parkway Missions Fund.
