Sammy L. Abbott of Gilliland, Texas passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Mr. Abbott was 81.
Mr. Abbott was born September 1, 1933 in San Angelo, Texas to James and Zella Abbott. He was a farmer and rancher most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Marilyn Lutich, and his wife Frances.
Mr. Abbott is survived by one son, Scotty and wife Helene, of Lewistown, Maryland; one daughter, George Anne and husband, Dale of Lake Coleman, Texas; grandchildren, Morgan Abbott of Lubbock, Texas, Nichole Abbott and Jonathan Abbott of Aledo, Texas, Kelly and wife Selena Estrada of Midland, Texas and John McCarthy of San Diego, California; and brother in law Valdo Lutich. Also, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2014, at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Gilliland Baptist Church in Gilliland, Texas, with Minister A.B. Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Truscott Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday.
