Susanna V. Adams of Needham died on Tuesday August 3 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston due to complications from Leukemia. She was 25 years old. Born in Newton, Susanna was a lifelong Needham resident. She was a 1992 graduate of Saint Joseph Elementary School in Needham, where she was Vice-President of her Eighth grade class. Susie graduated from Needham High School Class of 1996. At Needham High she was Co-captain of the Varsity tennis team and a member of the field hockey team . After high school Susie attended Hofstra University where she was the number one tennis player in division one for 2 years. Her love of film and communications lead her to transfer from Hofstra to Emerson College in her Junior year. Susie spent a semester at "Emerson's Castle" in Amsterdam. During this time she toured Europe and visited 12 countries. She was a summer intern at Oliver Stone's Production Co in Santa Monica CA. During her senior year, Susie spent a semester at Emerson's LA campus and interned with Donner Productions at Warner Bros. She graduated from Emerson in 2000 and went to work for the Shapiro-Lichtman talent/literacy agency in LA before becoming ill She returned to Needham in search of a diagnosis for severe joint pain. While searching for a diagnosis, Susie completed a screenplay. In July of 2003 Susie was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. She underwent a Bone Marrow transplant in November 2003. While recovering from her bone marrow transplant, she completed an autobiographical novel about the journey from excellent health to the depths of a diagnosis of Leukemia. She was the beloved daughter of Robert C. and Joanna (Guidara) of Needham and the dear sister of Virginia "Gina" Anderson and her husband Steven of Northboro and Robert F. Adams of Boston. She also leaves her grandmother, Gunhilda Adams of Worcester. She was the loving aunt of Nathan and Laura Anderson. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Friday August 6th at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment at Saint Mary Cemetery in Needham. In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund will be established at Needham High School, please make checks payable to Susanna V.
