**** My brother John "Ron" Connelly served with Ramiro and mentions him in his combat letters. My brother saved him from drowning when they jumped off a boat when they were on a mission on the Mekong Delta. Sadly Ramiro was killed later in 196

***** Ramiro and I were very good friends. We were in the same platoon and same squad. I was told by a good and trustworthy friend that if it had not been for Ramiro being awake and alert many others would have died also.
Although Ramiro fought hard and long he did not servive his wounds. Ramiro died quick and did not suffer. I know this for fact.

As a member of the Army Selective Service, SP4 Alvarado served our country until February 27th, 1968 in Phong Dinh, South Vietnam.

He was 23 years old and was not married.

Ramiro died from small arms fire/grenade.

His body was recovered.

Nine men from the 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry, were killed in action on 27 Feb 1968, including two from B Company - SP4 Ramiro Alvarado of San Antonio, Texas, and PFC Robert L. Powers.
