Joe grew up in Union County, Illinois. The family moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, about 1913, where his father died. Then they moved to Ottawa County, Oklahoma. In the later part of his life, he and his sister, Dot, lived at Jay, Oklahoma.
Joe was laid to rest next to his sister, Miss Mary Ethel "Dot" Anderson.
He was survived by his brother, Edward Anderson, of Ottawa County, Oklahoma. In addition to his only sister, Dot,
