Obituary

Mrs. Susan Catharine White was born in Virginia April 17th, 1848, died in Pueblo, Colorado January 7th, 1907, aged 58 years 8 months and 26 days. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Arnold.

She came to Illinois with her parents where she was married to David Davey in 1866. They lived there until 1883 when they moved to Kansas and settled on a farm south-east of Mulvane where they lived eighteen years, when they sold their farm in 1894 and moved to Mulvane where they lived until 1901 when they moved to Pueblo, Colorado where they lived 1 year 4 months when David Davey came back to Kansas and shortly after died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Valentine Shockey in 1902. Susan Davey returned to Kansas to be with him at the last but in about four months she returned to Pueblo with her daughter, Mrs. Arnold, at whose home she died four years later. To this union ten children were born, two with the father have gone before and eight still survive her to mourn the loss of a dear and loving mother.

The funeral was held at the residence of her son, Walter, in Mulvane conducted by Rev. W.L. Hinshaw of the U.B. Church of which she was a member. Interment was made in the Littleton cemetery.

Five children were present at the funeral, Mrs. Henry Evans of Atlanta, Mrs. Sadie Kimball and Charley Davey of Wichita and Clarence and Walter Davey of this city. Three daughters Mrs. Clara Argood, Mrs. Minnie Eve and Mrs. Ida Arnold were unable to attend the funeral. In her death her children feel the loss of a good loving mother.
