Willie Catherine Smithson was born, Sept. 28, 1932 in Morrison, TN, a daughter of Medford and Sarah Jane Swanger Smithson. She married E. Ralph Anthony, June 4, 1949 in Davenport. He died April 20, 1991. Catherine worked for 21 years at the St. Anthony's and Franciscan Hospitals, Rock Island. She retired in 1991. In the 1960's she worked at the former Marando's Supper Club, Milan. She loved to garden, crochet and sew clothing. Ma always had a lot of love for her family, friends and her dog "Poochie". Survivors include her sons, David R. Anthony, Orion, A. Dale Anthony, Rock Island; daughter, Dawn Anthony Hixson, Illinois City; grandchildren, Steve Anthony, Lyndy Havemann, David D. Anthony, Alicia Dewey, Fred Simmons, Mike Hixson, Caty Hixson and Greg Hixson; 10 great grandchildren and her brother, Glenn Smithson, Milan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Geraldine McConnell, a brother, son-in-law, Mike Hixson, grandson, Craig Allen Anthony and great grandson, John Paul Anthony.
