Ruth Madara Anthony, 86, of Moline, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be private today at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials can be made to Henry County Human Society, Geneseo Chapter, P.O. Box 145 Geneseo, IL 61254.

Ruth was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Grand River Township, Iowa. She married Walter Madara on April 22, 1939, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1971. She later married Herb Anthony on Dec. 16, 1979, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1990.

Mrs. Anthony worked as a museum curator for Blackhawk State Park for 15 years. She also worked in the Governors Branch Office in Rock Island for eight years.

Ruth was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Moline, and Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Walter Dean and Kathy Madara, Geneseo; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Larry Foley, Moline; grandchildren, Jon Madara, Geneseo, Kris and Heath Smith, Hillsdale, and L.J. Foley, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; great-grandson, Brock Smith. She was preceded in death by two sons.
