Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Edgington Presbyterian Church. Burial is in Edgington Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Memorials may be made to Mercer County Hospital Home Health Care or to the church.
The former Alice McDonald was born July 24, 1913, in Edgington Township, daughter of Maynard and Myrtle Andrews McDonald. She married Richard C. Acker in Edgington Township. He died March 27, 1975.
Alice worked as bookkeeper for their business, Acker Bulldozing of Reynolds.
She was a member of Edgington Presbyterian Church. Alice enjoyed doing hand-stitch quilting and needlework. She especially loved her family and being with them.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Glenna and Darryl Kelly, Tucson, Ariz., Shirley and Earl Day, Rock Island, Marjorie and William Wilkens, Taylor Ridge, Lois and Frank Burr, Muscatine, Nancy and Gary Williams, Illinois City; sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Mary Acker, Reynolds, Gary and Donna Acker, Taylor Ridge, Lyle and Jeanette Acker, Taylor Ridge, Dennis and Lisa Acker, Reynolds; 25 grandchildren; many many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Parchert, Illinois City, Hazel Thor, Galesburg; sister-in-law, Betty McDonald, Illinois City; and brother-in-law, Charles Jones, Florida. She was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Jahn and Mary Jones; a brother, Glen McDonald; and two grandsons.
