Gaspar Józef Hipolit Cegielski, Polish engineer and entrepreneur. Born at Lawki near Gniezno (Gnesen), he worked as a teacher in Posen. Having lost his employment after refusing to collaborate in repressive actions by the Prussian school board, he started to negotiate with agricultural tools on the Poznan "bazar" market. Soon he engaged in producing his own ware, opening a foundry which was at the origin of the biggest industrial works of Poznan.
Buried on St. Martin's cemetery near ul. Towarowa, a graveyard later liquidated. As the remains were exhumed and buried at a place unknown, the memorial at "Cmentarz zasluzonych" is only a symbolic one, cf.
