Benjamin G. Decker, Sr., was the second husband of Louisa C. Knowles Jackson Decker, whom he divorced in May 1866. His first wife was Clarissa Ann Pell Decker. He was the father of, among others, Zachary Taylor Decker. According to the records of the RLDS (Community of Christ Church), he was baptized by Rev. Asa Walden at Rock Creek, Nebraska, on July 19, 1865. He was subsequently disfellowshipped/expelled on May 8, 1871.
It is believed that he is buried in Siskyou County, California, on the Gregory homestead as he resided with is daughter, Henrietta Elizabeth Decker Gregory, wife of John Henry Gregory, when he died.

In Shasta Valley, April 20th, Benjamin Decker, aged 67 years, a native of Pennsylvania.
