She was the daughter of Thomas W. Hatton and Elizabeth Ann Ellen Lake of South Carolina. She was born in the Hatton Community 6 miles southwest of Grand Saline, named for her father. She married Alexander Sidney Bishop in 1875 and then married John Cale Adams in 1883, both in Van Zandt County. She died at the home of her married daughter Mrs. Nellie Gray (Adams)Montgomery of a cerebral apolexy after having arterosclerosis for many years.
