CHARLES E. CHITTENDEN, b.1811, Chelsea, MA, a son of EBENEZER "Eben" CHITTENDEN and MARTHA "Patty" (INGRAHAM) of Chelsea, MA and later Malden, MA. On 1/10/1836 in Boston, MA m: MARY REBECCA (BOWDLEAR), b.1814, Roxbury, MA, a daughter of JOHN A. BOWDLEAR and MARY ANN (TRASK) of Roxbury, MA, with whom he had children. After Mary's death, in 1881 Charles second married CATHERINE PAINE (CLARK).

Charles Chittenden was a paternal grandson of CALVIN CHITTENDEN and SARAH "Sally" (PRATT) of Malden, MA, and paternal great-grandson of Capt. ISAAC CHITTENDEN and his first wife PERSIS (FINNEY) of Malden, MA.

Capt. Isaac Chittenden was born 1719 in Scituate, MA, died 1782, Malden, MA, a son of Capt. ISRAEL CHITTENDEN and MARY (PICKLES) of Scituate, MA, and descendant of immigrant ISAAC CHITTENDEN, who along with his brother HENRY CHITTENDEN and their parents, THOMAS CHITTENDEN and REBECCA (BAMFORT), were among the early "Men of Kent" settlers of Scituate, MA, from County Kent, ENG.)
