Anna was one of two twins born in Murdoch's Close, Scotland on January 16, 1880, to Thomas G. Baird and Margaret McRobert Baird. She was the first of twelve children born to Thomas and Margaret.

Around 1889, Anna immigrated to the United States with her parents, two brothers, and one sister. Her twin, Elizabeth, stayed in Scotland with their grandmother.

Anna's family settled in Bureau County, Illinois, and took up farming. On February 1, 1902, Anna married Charles Lee Jackson. Together they raised one daughter, Lyla.

Anna's husband passed away in 1938 after 36 years of marriage. She eventually remarried George Pierson and lived to be 85 years old. Most of the family remembers her as quite a fun-loving character and she was given the nickname Bo-Bo.
