Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday in Lowe-DeBord Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Funderburk officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Anson County. He retired from Carolina Door Specialties as an overhead door installer. Mr. Carpenter was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Matthews, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Catherine Carpenter of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Richard Burch; and grandson, Wesley Paul Burch, all of Charlotte; sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Mullis of Marshville, Mrs. Ethel Hardy of Laurinburg; and stepsister, Mrs. Edith Whitley Phifer of Peachland. Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Paul Carpenter and Dora Hill Carpenter , stepmother, Ila Manus Carpenter , and sister, Gladys C. Nance.
